CLR James' Nkrumah and the Ghana Revolution offers a more critical approach to these events which examines the class antagonism in the anti-colonial movement in more depth and the limitations of Nkrumah's approach of capturing the state. However, James' volume is currently neither available online nor in print, and deals with a shorter chronology than Padmore.
