1996-7: Philadelphians campaign against welfare cuts

In 1996 state and federal welfare reforms threatened to leave hundreds of thousands of poor and unemployed under threat. A coalition of Philadelphian activists and homeless attempted to fight both state and federal welfare reform programs.

1969-70: Crystal City Chicano Students Strike

In 1969 Mexican American students at Cristal City high school were subject to systematic discrimination by the school board. In response the students protested and staged a mass walkout with the support of other Mexican American groups.

2011-12: Disabled Bolivians March to La Paz

In 2011 a group of disabled Bolivians marched through the country to the capitol to push for increased support and to combat stigma. They were met with riot police and state violence.
