Annually on April 25th, the state encourages people across Aotearoa/NZ to commemorate those who participated in the imperialist adventure of World War 1. The Anarcho-Communist Aotearoa Workers Solidarity Movement (AWSM) put forward its interpretation of those historical events during commemorative ceremonies. We leafletted individuals and communities to express our view that the war was an inter-imperialist and capitalist power grab, with those of us across all borders being the victims. We hope this counter-narrative gives recipients of our efforts time to think and decide how they wish to view these events in the future.
