A letter of the KAPD from the Police Archives that served as a coded directive from "Margot" to KAPD members, outlining clandestine communication protocols, operational signals, and resource reporting to sustain revolutionary work under impending persecution. The letter can be found in "Organisation der leinksradikalen Bewegung im Reich, Büro Kölpin, No. 93" in the "State Archives of North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland Department".

We must reckon with the possibility that we will be heavily persecuted in the near future. Even under such circumstances, our work must, under all conditions, be continued. The following list is intended for this purpose, as well as for possible telegrams:
General strike..... Paul seriously ill, Hargot
General standstill..... Paul terminally ill, Magot
Wait..... Coming unnecessary, Margot
If I write or telegraph this, it means a request to the district headquarters to act accordingly. If you telegraph this, it means that it is being done in your area or that the situation in your region looks like this.
Further for the MP [Military Planning?] reports:
1 Infantryman — 1 Pair of Socks
1 Cavalryman — 1 Pair of Ladies' Stockings
1 Artilleryman — 1 Pair of Puttees
1 Pioneer — 1 pair of Garters
1 Pilot — 1 Tie
1 Machine Gun — 1 Carton
1 Cannon — 1 Crate
1 Armored train — 1 Truck
Furthermore: if the address needs to be changed: "Go to your friend....."
Then I request every location to immediately send me two new addresses and number them so that a switch can be made immediately without losing time. Moreover, the situation may become more uncertain later than it is now. Every opportunity for verbal transmission—travelers, waiters, etc.—must be used to pass on new addresses. Two new addresses from me are included on a special note. However, they will only be used if I request it.
Furthermore, it is absolutely necessary that neither names nor residences are unnecessarily mentioned in the correspondence.
All these precautionary measures, except for providing and changing the address, are only to be applied in cases of absolute necessity or if I request: "Better to write."
I sign with "Margot."
