Final Registrations for Internationalist Meeting Against War - Varna ‘26/Варна ‘26

In the chaos and uncertainty of today’s world, it seems more vital than ever that internationalists start to find common ground, and begin to work on strategies to build working class resistance against war, and the attacks on workers living standards that accompany it. To that end, we are inviting you to a conference of internationalists, against all wars, and against all states. The conference will provide a possibility for internationalists across the continent, and beyond to meet, network, and discuss about how to go forward.

Who’s organising it?

The event is being hosted by the Bulgarian group Konflikt, who have experience of organising big international events before, but it has the involvement of many internationalist groups. For example, the IWA International Secretariat is supporting the event, and there will also be groups from the IFA in attendance, as well as members of the NWBTCW initiative.

What can we expect there?

The conference will include special sessions on the major wars going on today, such as the Russia-Ukraine war, and the chance to listen to comrades from those countries about their involvement in the struggle against war. There will also be a session on operating in countries with ‘national liberation’ movements, where we will hear comrades from Ireland talking about the situation there, from Turkey talking about the Kurdish question, and militants from both sides of the line from Cyprus. Also there will be sessions on workers actions against war, the increasing militarisation of society, and the move to a war economy, as well as the chance to hear what different groups think is the best strategy today.

When is it happening?
It will take place over three days in September 2026 from 18th to 20th September. For those here in the Balkans, it’s the week before the Balkan anarchist book fair in Skopje.

Where is it happening?

The venue is a three star hotel/conference centre on the Black Sea coast in a resort suburb of Varna, Bulgaria.

How much will it cost?

The cost for the hotel (based on sharing a double room) with full board (breakfast/lunch/dinner) is a very reasonable €45 per day. As for spending while you are here, with all food provided, you shouldn’t need to spend much, and anyway, Bulgaria is the cheapest country in the EU.

How do I get there?

Varna is a tourist city so you can fly there direct from 60 different cities in 25 different countries, most of them on low cost airlines. For those who don’t have a direct flight, Burgas airport, two hours to the south offers 55 different cities. Bucharest airport in Romania is approximately three and a half hours away, while Sofia, Bulgaria, and Istanbul, Türkiye are around six hours away.

How do I register?

It’s simple. Just write to [email protected] and tell them you are interested in attending. They will write back with more details, and information about how to pay a small deposit (€20). Or alternatively just show them your flight/travel details, and they don’t need a deposit to know you are coming.
