Monson loses decision against Fedor

Jeff Monson vs Fedor Emelianenko went this distance this evening in Moscow with Fedor taking it on points.

Submitted by Choccy on November 20, 2011

Monson seemed to find it hard to respond to the standup game that Fedor played and was unable to take Fedor down. Fedor looked fairly methodical, using leg kicks to keep Monson at bay for the 3 rounds.

What's with all the articles about every banal fight Jeff Monson engages in? Like sure, he is an anarchist and a celebrity, but surely you could at least stick to the activities he does that are actually related to anarchism?

Like iirc Choccy you're a anarchist teacher, but the idea of someone writing a blog post about how you taught a class today would be absurd.

Not actually sure why I am bothered by this enough to type this message.

no it wouldn't, i'd love to hear tips on either class content or class procedure from a libcommie approach.

The internet hate machine is saying he threw the fight, but it looks like he his leg was broken in the first.

Pretty sad post-fight video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT-O3OFpHWQ&feature=player_embedded

Hope he gets back in the saddle after this loss.

To be honest, he's 40, fights roughly ten times a year, and has back problems - should really consider if it's worth putting his body through it.
That said, he's got kids, and is still paying off his fine for the anti-war graffiti stuff so I guess he's forced to put his body through this to pay the bills these days.

And who said this wasn't of relevance to class-struggle? ;)

A four-line blog post about a topic of passing interest to anarchists is not an article. And since he uses almost every interview he does to mention his politics, I see no problem in giving him a bit of coverage, in and out of the ring.

Aye so wind your neck in next time.

Maybe next time you can have a big fucking cry about Libcom's top ten music videos of 2011 - WHAT HAS THIS GOT TO DO WITH ANARCHY?!!!?1?

He is quite well educated so I am sure he will be able to do something else after.

Ah, fuck it, it's good to have a life outside the anarchy. If someone wants to blog about the fights of a minor anarcho-celebrity (although perhaps as about major as anarcho-celebs outside of Chomsky), go for it.

In addition to his leg being broken it seems he was visibly limping on his way to the ring (so i heard, vids i've seen don't include the walkout) and fighting with a fucked up arm that was all taped up at ADCC. Werdum specifically mentioned in an interview that he thought Jeff would lose because of it. Its a real shame, I'd been looking forward to this fight for years. Still though, much respect to Jeff for going 3 rounds with Fedor with a broken leg!

And how's this for a bit of anarchy? According to Russia Today Jeff got in a fight with some Moscow cops harassing a drunk put themin their place ;)

Yep pretty much this Spass. What was the point in your totally unconstructive under the belt comments? Just because your not interested in MMA doesn't mean that other people arn't (I personally couldn't give two waggles of a puppies tale, but your attitude is well shitty. ANARCHIES SHOULD TALK ABOUT KRONSTADT ALWAYS!).

Choccy, how much was his fine for the graffiti?

He could go back to his job as a social worker deciding who gets locked up in psych wards.

According to Monson's twitter, he didn't actually bash the russian cops, just tried to intervene to help out the homeless guy they were harassing. How un-anarchy.

My goal is to follow every anarcho-celebrity on twitter.

So I misread an article today and it led me to believe Monson had fought Vladimir Putin!

Asked to explain why spectators had booed when he entered the ring at a martial arts contest in Moscow last month, Mr Putin said: "Maybe the sight of my face in the ring didn't please somebody? I quite accept that.

"Maybe they were unhappy with [defeated fighter] Jeff Monson? Maybe they were unhappy with the fight? Maybe they thought it had been rigged!"
