Thursday 30th March
500 students left Lyon II University, at first to "visit" Lyon III which is not on strike but their way was barred, they then moved on to block train tracks, this only lasted 10 minutes as there was large CRS Police presence. It was only because of solidarity action by the railway workers on duty at the station who locked the main entrance to block police access and opened exits for to allow the students to leave that they were able to escape without coming under police attack. The groups then moved onto Saxe Gambetta a traffic hub in the city, blocking traffic again for a short while before the massed CRS fired tear gas to disperse the group. 7 arrests were made.

Friday March 31st 16.00 p.m.
We are receiving as yet unconfirmed reports that a student at the Marseille Luminy campus has been greviously wounded at a blockade on the entrance road to campus. An enraged car driver drove directly into a group of demonstrators injuring the student who has been hospitalised. It is appropriate to ask the question who the police are protecting in these situations...
