Russia: Revolution and Counter-Revolution, 1905-1924 - A View from the Communist Left

Price: £12 (GBP) / $27 (USD)
276 Pages
Released: 11/09/21

The Russian Revolution remains a landmark event in history. For the bourgeois historians, the October Revolution is thought to be a tragedy that set back the achievements of the “democratic” February Revolution, and allowed the Bolsheviks to wreak havoc on their citizens and the world. For the Stalinists, the events of 1917 paved the way for the birth of the USSR, which they point to as a prototypical example of “socialism in one country”. In reality, the February and October Revolutions were both part of the same proletarian revolution.

Might have to check this out. I'm guessing the views expressed by Dominie are the same as the CWO-ICT's? Any plans to post a free version somewhere?

Yes - it's written by a member of the CWO. Like with all our previous books, a PDF of it will be made available for free on our website once we recoup the costs of printing.

Well worth buying and reading especially if you are interested in the various different tendencies or factions of both the RSDLP (beyond a straight Bolshevik/Menshevik) and the peasant based SR's plus a critical approach to the different Left Communist tendencies past and present. Still not sure if doesn't overestimate its understanding of the level of 'communist' as opposed to just 'democratic' politics amongst the minority industrial working class at that time even if there is a practical connection between the two? Would be good to see some more critical reviews/discussion when it's available online later here.
