Part of the series https://libcom.org/library/works-mikhail-bakunin-reading-guide

Written between 1867 and 1872, many of Bakunin's predictions about the outcome of following the authoritarian communist road have been proven valid by the actions of Leninist tyrants across the world.

I never quite understood what Bakunin meant by " materialism" and "determinism" as being separate and distinct from the (small m) marxian view of same

Bakunin's materialism is naturalist (like in natural sciences), marxian historical materialism is anthropocentrist. Bakunin's determinism is also naturalist, broader and social, marxian determinism is economical one.
