Appropriately enough in the run-up to Christmas the main theme this week seems to be... er...atheism with an hour long documentary on prime-time terrestrial tv and a 30 Days documentary on an atheist moving in with a Christian family... oh yes.

Sat 16 Dec - 9.30 - 10.30pm - BBC4 - The Cinema Show.
Examining prison films such as "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Midnight Express" and asking film-makers why prison is such a popular setting.

Mon 18 Dec - 8 - 9pm - Channel 4 - The Trouble with Atheism.
Rod Liddle challenges atheists including Richard Dawkins and asks if atheism shares many facets with the belief systems it opposes e.g. a tendency to intolerance and fundamentalism.

Mon 18 Dec - 9 - 11.10 pm - BBC4 - When the Levees Broke Part 1.
The premiere of Spike Lees documentary. Part 2 is on at the same time tomorrow. This takes a look at the devastation of the impact of Hurricane Katrina on the lifes of the poorer residents of New Orleans and of the authorities failure to act to save lives.

A brief look at the childrens sci-fi series which featured a small group of teenagers trying to resist the alien invasion that had turned their parents into obedient zombies..

A repeat of this low-rent documentary featuring disgruntled employees employing a range of methods to wreak havoc in the workplace and achieve financial gain..

Wed 20 Dec - 9 - 10pm - Channel 4 - The Secret Millionaire
A millionaire parachutes into a deprived area posing as a resident and decides who s/he will reward with a limited share of his/her vast financial largesse depending on who they consider to be most "deserving".

Wed 20 Dec - 9- 10pm - More4 - 30 Days (rpt 12.40 am) The Atheist Experiment
An atheist spends a month in the home of a devout Christian family in Texas.

Fri 22 Dec - 9 - 10pm - BBC4 - Edith Piaf: Singing Her Life
The life story of the iconic chanteuse who died in 1963 aged 47.
