The workers voted on Monday morning to launch strike action demanding assurances over jobs.
The 122 workers are currently employed by the maintenance of military engines division of Techspace Aero, at Herstal. The US manufacturer Pratt & Withney has just bought the division and workers want assurances over their jobs. 75% of the workforce have been with the company for 20 years or more.
A general assembly was held by workers on Monday morning at 9am they voted for a minimum 24 hours of strike action, with a meeting to be held today at the same time to decide whether to continue with the action.
Pratt and Whitney have told workers that they plan to increase the number of workers and the hours available but existing workers are unhappy that their jobs have not been guaranteed, they have also rejected a welcome bonus as insultingly low.
