The Acropolis will be closed this weekend as well as next weekend in support of workers' demands. They are currently calling for a bonus for night work, an increased bonus for working six days and week and for permanent jobs for contract workers.

Some 500 of the 1900 workers in the union are on fixed-term contracts, last weekend they closed down all the archaeological sites they work at. There was a previous weekend strike in June. The decision to target the Acropolis comes as the Museum at the site is shut while works are transferred to the new museum, scheduled to open next year.
