Welcome to Intransigence

Intransigence is an online journal which is a joint undertaking between a few groups (Workers' Offensive, Gulf Coast Communist Fraction, Internationalist Workers Group, and Klasbatalo Collective) and individuals in North America. It is subtitled “Publication of the Internationalists in North America”. Its self-proclaimed goal is “to aid in the regrouping effort that is currently underway, serving as both a medium for internal discussion and a means of publicizing these views.”

We cannot but welcome this new initiative and it is supported by comrades who are either affiliated to the ICT or aim to affiliate to it. We see it as another example of new groups and publications which are emerging around the world taking up long-established internationalist positions. We wish the project well, and will try to play our part in the not-so-easy task of establishing real communist nuclei, with a real capacity for intervening in the struggle, as forerunners of local sections across North America, of a world working class party.

A mixed bag of contributions but thought this effort made some interesting points linking mistaken notions of opposition between productive and unproductive or 'parasitical' labour in capitalism as sometimes utilised by both right-wing and left-wing politics with an aside on antisemitism;

That's a really good article, one thing to complain about though:

"Rather, Marxists should insist that its “producer” comprises humanity as a whole — a “producer” which, although estranged from its actual productive potential, remains the unconscious source of all the wealth that capitalism secretes on our planet."

Could brush up on critique of the gotha programme:

Critique of the Gotha Programme

First part of the paragraph: "Labor is the source of all wealth and all culture."

Labor is not the source of all wealth. Nature is just as much the source of use values (and it is surely of such that material wealth consists!) as labor, which itself is only the manifestation of a force of nature, human labor power. the above phrase is to be found in all children's primers and is correct insofar as it is implied that labor is performed with the appurtenant subjects and instruments. But a socialist program cannot allow such bourgeois phrases to pass over in silence the conditions that lone give them meaning. And insofar as man from the beginning behaves toward nature, the primary source of all instruments and subjects of labor, as an owner, treats her as belonging to him, his labor becomes the source of use values, therefore also of wealth. The bourgeois have very good grounds for falsely ascribing supernatural creative power to labor; since precisely from the fact that labor depends on nature it follows that the man who possesses no other property than his labor power must, in all conditions of society and culture, be the slave of other men who have made themselves the owners of the material conditions of labor. He can only work with their permission, hence live only with their permission.

It happens that not all the groups considered this publication and the attempted coordination behind it worthwhile in the long run as explained here:
https://mcmxix.org/2021/01/20/closing-intransigence/
It obviously enabled some groups to work together in a more unified way... but of course still a long way from any genuine unified political movement or the single Party aimed at by many.

Yes, Intransigence is no more, and it's been replaced by 1919, journal of the two North American affiliates of the ICT (Klasbatalo and IWG). You can find a PDF of issue 1 HERE.
