A poll in left-leaning newspaper Liberation put his approval rating at 37 percent, down from 44 percent in February and 49 percent in January. The previous low was 41 percent last June.
An opinion poll in Les Echos financial daily showed that 65% of the population believes opposition to the CPE is justified, but the prime minister told the newspaper Le Parisien he had no intention of backing down.
