Later in 1975, Joe Jacobs was one of the founders of Échanges et Mouvement. He died in March 1977.

His essential memoirs "Out of the Ghetto: my youth in the East End: Communism and Fascism 1913-1939" were published posthumously in 1978.

According to this link, Jacobs was the only person to ever get expelled from Solidarity:
