What happened to the other forum Anarchist Black Cat?

Submitted by ultraviolet on March 29, 2012

Does anyone know what happened to the Anarchist Black Cat forum? It's been down for weeks. I found the quality of discussion there as good as here, the only thing is it was much less active. But still active enough that I don't see why it would be shut down. Anybody know what's going on and if or when it will be coming back up?

The reason it is down is because of hackers. It was being redirected to a Russian porn site if you looked at it via Safari. I don't know why its taking them so long to get it back up again.

It never re-emerged, is what. Still not sure why though- lack of traffic, etc perhaps?

It came back briefly and then got slaughtered with spam I think.

Conatz nailed it. Some Russian porn stuff. I was actually able to view it after it was attacked. Then it infected my computer. Politics aside, tremendous amount if North American stuff lost

fwiw it all still exists somewhere on someone in anarkismo's either server or on a computer somewhere. just so folks know.

but basically it needs the right sort of people and the will to make it exist again.

We would happily host all of the text from it in the library, if someone wanted to put it in some usable format…

I clicked on the website and it had information on "Julia and Julia" and "Ratatouille". Pretty weird. If only I had seen this thread.

Why does Anarkismo bother keeping a link to that site?

Hopefully this site will be back with us. I didn't know it existed.

This thread is five years old, I don't think it is coming back, although the data is probably still recoverable.

The one area they were good in was North America
Much more discussion by and for.

Obviously it was more platformist friendly and so you had that crowd as well
