Nice demonstration report

A participant's account of today's anti-CPE demonstration in Nice.

Successful demonstration...

Today, despite grey skies and rain there was a massive mobilisation and as I could hear them chant during the demonstration: Rennes weather, Rennes Demonstration. In fact, with between 5,000 (according to the police) and 15,000 (according to the organisers) people there were plenty out there.

And there were many secondary-school pupils and students also since they made up about a third of the demonstration. A positive and encouraging day which bodes well for the continuation (and eventual end one hopes) of the movement...

The CFDT and the other trade unions leave the government time limits of between a few hours and a few days to withdraw the CPE. We, the young people think they have already had enough time cine they dared to present this text to be voted into law by Parliament...

In any case, it was as successful a day across France as it was in Nice with between 500,000 and 1.5 million demonstrators... it is patently obvious that the French people do not agree with the government and are showing it!!
