Newspaper Liberation reported the events occured at the Trocadero, in the chic 16th arrondissement of Paris for an indefinite occupation.

In a communiqué issued by the group they demand the recall of the “Equality of Chance” law (article 8 of which is the CPE), a solution to their dispute with the government over the cultural workers conditions, an end to the criminalisation of the unrest movement and amnesty for all those arrested, and the resignation of the government. The police had encircled the theatre ready to evict by later on in the night.

Cultural and arts workers have been in an onrunning dispute with the government over the casualisation of employment laws in their industry. Last year workers from the industry penetrated the studios during a French TV news broadcast and were interviewed live on air by the news anchor.
