At libcom.org we are working on a major redesign and upgrade of the site, and so are launching a fundraiser to help us maintain the site and cover upgrading costs.
With the recent fall in the value of the pound our hosting costs have gone up. And behind the scenes we are working on a complete upgrade of the site with a number of big improvements to make the site cleaner, simpler, faster, easier to navigate and better to use on smartphones and tablets.
So to try to do this and make libcom.org sustainable into the future we have started a fundraiser on patreon.
So if you can spare a bit of cash, please become a supporter of libcom.org, and help us maintain and build a platform for libertarian communist politics at a time when the world really needs it!

I already make a monthly
I already make a monthly donation through PayPal - it's quite small and I'm happy to increase the amount. Would it be better to do that via this fundraiser or just set up a new PayPal donation? Because for one thing I see that the fundraiser is asking for dollar donations which may require transaction charges - and is there a cut taken by Patreon as well? But on the other hand maybe you want more people to do it via the fundraiser to make it look successful and thus to encourage others?

hi, thank you so much for your support!
If you are using PayPal, you're fine to keep doing this – as donors in the EU at least need to pay VAT on patreon donations, which you don't on PayPal. Transaction charges aren't an issue, as we can spend dollars directly. There is a transaction fee, but it is pretty small, and it is more than outweighed by the fact that patreon is a popular donation platform. So we've been trying to get donations through PayPal for 15 years, but within a few weeks of using patreon we are making probably 10 or more times as much from patreon what we were from PayPal. So no need for you to switch! If you want to change it through PayPal you can just do that, and it would be very much appreciated!
Done. Thanks for all the hard
