Uploaders synopsis

This year 2007 one-hour film by Hu Jie 胡杰 tells the full-day torture, and killing, of (Ms) Bian ZhongYun 卞仲耘 by her pupils in August 1966. A few days later, on August 18, one of the teen-agers Song BinBin 宋彬彬 was rewarded, on the terrace of TianAnMen (the Gate of Heavenly Peace), allowed to fix the Red-Guard armband on Chairman’s Mao sleeve — who blessed her with a new name Song YaoWu 宋要武 [Song the Warrior].

Later a MIT PhD, she was the daughter of Song RenQiong 宋任穷 one of the CCP top elders. This was the first, or second, murder of the «Cultural revolution» [anti-cultural counter-revolution]. Within two months, over 1900 other secondary school teachers were similarly tortured and killed by their pupils. Song YaoWu, much later, gave up this other name, and eventually apologized for the crimes of the cultural revolution, in front of a statue by Bian ZhongYun, on the school premisses. But Wang JingYao, husband of Bian ZhongYun, and the main witness interviewed by Hu Jie, was not invited to the ceremony.

With full consent of its director, editor, and producer, Hu Jie, this film file can be freely broadcasted, duplicated and disseminated.

Material that covers the cultural revolution tends to be chaotic and sweeping, this film instead is lazer focused on one family and what it was like to live through the CR while branded enemies and the lengths Wang JingYao had to got to to ensure some form of accurate record was kept. Most of the photographs including those of his dead wife were taken by him.

Interesting - I hadn't been aware that most of the terrorising student perpetrators were children of high Party officials.
