Thousands march in Athens following the coffin of Pakistani asylum seeker killed by the riot police in a wanton attack against immigrants queuing for asylum papers.
In the evening of the 27th of October thousands marched in the center of Athens in protest at the killing of a Pakistani asylum seeker in the hands of the police.
In the early morning of Sunday the 26th, riot police charged immigrants queuing outside the central immigration office of Athens waiting to register for asylum status.
Using batons and tear gas the riot police forces (MAT) attacked the unsuspecting immigrants with the supposed task of getting them in a straight line, chasing scores of them in the back alleys.
One of them, a 24 year old Pakistani man, Montaser Mohammed Ashraf, succumbed to the beatings losing his life before reaching the hospital.
The demonstration following the black coffin containing the body of the dead man, moved from the Athens City Hall to the Parliament linking the two powers responsible for the murder.
