A brief introduction to the bloggers on libcom.org, new and old.
Blogging
As part of the ongoing redesign of the site, we've been increasing the prominence of the blogs section as it contains some of the best original content on the site. So far this has meant moving blogs to the top of the site menu and inviting a host of new people to blog on libcom. We hope to get more people involved in the near future, but for now here is the roster of new and existing bloggers:
- Tom Jennings - Reviews of films, TV and books from a libertarian communist perspective.
- The Croydonian Anarchist - A sixth form student focuses on political goings on at their college.
- Working Class Self Organisation - Comment on the days events from around the world.
- Phil/Property is Theft - Phil Dickens' more theoretical blog, looking in-depth at issues of anarchism and anti-fascism.
- Choccy - A teacher's view on education, science and the occasional bit of Mixed Martial Arts.
- Spartacus - Monthly round-ups of the class struggle in East Asia.
- Bulmer - China-based blog reporting on class struggles in the region and exploring libertarian communist theory.
- StrugglesInItaly - Information on current struggles in Italy, "an international echo to Italian social movements".
- Recomposition - A group of North American Wobblies with autonomist Marxist influences write about work and organising.
- Nate - One of recomposition, blogging individually as well.
- Juan Conatz - Unemployed/casual worker. One of the recomposition crew.
- Liberté Locke - A barista from New York City and an organiser with the IWW Starbucks Workers Union blogging about issues of gender and class.
- Alasdair - An Edinburgh education worker blogging against the cuts.
- Caiman del Barrio - Analysis focussed on Latin America, and casual work in London.
- Chilli Sauce - Labour law, workplace organising and more from a UK education worker.
- Omar Ibrahim March 26th Anti-Cuts Prisoner's blog - Omar Ibrahim was imprisoned after the March 26th anti-cuts demo in London. This is his blog.
- Rob Ray - Media, journalism, and comment from a London-based journalist.
- thegonzokid - Thoughts on anarcho-syndicalism and working class history.
- Django - Analysis of the far-right and debunking myths about claimants, the public sector and more.
- Wotjek - Anarchism, football and more.
- Steven. - Council worker writes about public sector struggles, and also a place for all the hipster crap we won't let him put on this libcom blog.
- Ramona - Anthropology and full communism from an Edinburgh based teaching assistant.
- Joseph Kay - Libertarian communist theory and analysis.
- And finally, libcom itself, this blog, used mainly for site announcements.
Apologies if we've missed anyone out. Let us know if we have. Behind the scenes we're looking into automatically generating an up-to-date list of bloggers. Bloggers will also notice there's now a little box in the sidebar with their profile picture, username and a short blurb. The blurb can be edited in your account ('blog info', in the personal tab).

Fwiw, bloggers can edit what appears in their blurbs in the 'blog info' section of your profile.

Shouldn't the links link to the blog of the user, rather than the user profile?
Also, is this going to be linked from the blogs page as well? EDIT: Just seen that it is, but maybe it could be a bit more prominent. For example, instead of just saying 'more' under the featured blogger, it could say something like 'Full list of libcom bloggers'.

When 'Phil' is the featured blog, because he has a link in his intro, the box becomes bigger and sticks out of the central column of the page.

the problem is automating it. it can be done, but doesn't link to the blog with a nice alias, but one with the number in the URL (e.g. blog/1768). profiles look a lot nicer in the new theme, and there's both a blog info field and a link to the blog, so we'll see how it works when we switch the new theme on.
