It is my kitty FYI (and he's still alive and kicking).
Hello,
I am a communications worker who began their foray into leftism and libertarian thinking when I was 13, finding the Communist Manifesto at a Library, as well as discovering punk rock music that espoused the more misguided, simple version of anarchism that was so popular among late 70s, 80s mainstay punk groups. I have only really evolved more fully in my political thinking in the last couple years after discovering Kropotkin. I would like to live in a world where my wife and I may grow food, help our neighbors and comrades, build a community based on horizontal organization and direct democracy, and live in harmony with the forces of nature to which we are spiritually "bound". I look forward to speaking with all of the comrades here extensively.
Regards,
Thunaraz The Thunderer
Welcome!
Hi guys! Currently I am a Tech support and Web Designer in a company. Well I'm not gonna explain my job but I will explain more about my hobby. I'm interested in war history of Rome, Chinese, Turks, Korea, Iceland and many more. That is why I cam to this forum to learn more about the modern status of our era.
I found this site by searching for anarchist forums, considering I have read some literature on Bakunin and Anarchism and am interested in it.
Hi, my ex-roommate told me about this website and that "people here know their shit." I'm very impressed with all the information you have. I feel like I could spend a lifetime reading it all. The discussion forums seem intimidating but lively and covering many interesting topics. I'm glad to be here.
Welcome! Personally, I deny all knowledge of knowing any shit but your roommate is correct and there's a lot of good stuff here
People do know their shit, but people also throw faeces from time to time... so there's that
Hello, all.
I'm a market anarchist or individualist anarchist, of the sort one might find at the Center for a Stateless Society. I'm not sure yet if "my kind" is welcome here, or if the forum is strictly for people who identify as "communists?" I thought I would go ahead and ask and see, though.
Other than that, I'm a wage-worker slowly trying to shift to self-employment, and looking for avenues to engage in activism and help others become as free as is possible. I also read a lot and write computer software, but only as hobbies at the moment.

Hello.
You're not going to get banned or anything but you will find that people on here don't believe that markets can exist without exploitation and coercion and so if there are markets it isn't anarchism.

Thanks for the reply! I don't mind that that's the general consensus here, and I'm glad to know that I can participate in discussions and that I won't be banned for my views. I'm not really planning on debating or causing disruption, I'm more looking to lurk and listen and figure out what sort of people congregate here.

Welcome, Emma!

Welcome Mcgoofle but take care to read up and follow discussions carefully before commenting as others will jump on you for any errors of understanding/ lack of experience/poor wording etc etc. Learn by experience and you will be OK!
Honestly others jump on people here for all sorts of reasons, it seems! Often just for saying something controversial, or they have a grudge against it...
Just a lonely ancom who doesnt have much of a life here. disabled, mentally ill, jobless, and i cant drive either. hoping to meet new people n shizz here
Welcome, I'm in a similar situation to yourself. It can be miserable.
Unfortunately this place isn't really all that active anymore.
dont care i like this site lol
Hiya! The quality of political discussion on this forum is so high, it's kind of intimidating. But I'd like to jump in and join the conversation.
We're in a period of such low class-struggle, with so few people really questioning capitalism or the state, and it's easy to feel pessimistic. But for some reason I still have faith we'll pull through. Well, most of the time I do.
I've not really been involved in class-struggle, aside from a bit of strike support here and there. It's something I'd like to do... but I have very intense anxiety issues. I have such a strong, deep desire to get involved and it can be very frustrating to feel held back. In the future I definitely want to become involved, though, once I take care of the anxiety and its causes.
I feel our politics are so beautiful; they hold a vision of the world as it could be, something that could make life fantastic for everyone.
So I'm very happy to be here with all of you.
Hey, great thoughts, thanks for sharing them. Anxiety sucks, so good luck dealing with that. Welcome to the site anyway, hope you find it useful!
Thank you Steven! I'm sure I will be able to overcome my anxiety, and I've made progress, but there is much work ahead before that happens. And yes, this site is very useful. I've been visiting it for a long time and have learned a lot here.
Hi welcome ^_^
Hi welcome ^_^
Hello fellow newcomer
Hi, I'm new and just made an account here - actually I made an earlier account recently but I forgot the password, I'm not exactly of the same political viewpoints as the majority of this board, particularly the anarchists, but I still would like to contribute to discussion here. I'm a communist primarily because I don't believe that a market economy is a reasonable system of commodity management and exchange for future societies, and it saddens me that our growing global interconnectivity via mediums such as the internet and world transport has only watered the trough of the most vile of cult-o-path Ayn-Randesque Libertarians, of Dara Khosrowshahi, Ross Ulbricht and Martin Shkreli fame.
Are the days of dreams of digital marxism and cross-border peer networks to build international solidarities and an indomitable world socialist movement long gone, just at the time the majority of the third world has began to gain access to the datascape?
As more than 90 million Nigerians now trot the web, not a single socialist of note dares to reach out to the choked labour movement in this rapidly industrialising African nation. As explosions of online social and political bloggers over the past ~10 years in Southern Asia, many of them speaking out against corruption theocracy and cultural backwardsness, many of them strong left like us, are been violently suppressed by their governments and religious and social extremists, they are cut off and isolated, separated from an insulated Western left, largely ignorant of their history and their struggles.
Indeed it is ironically the people least inclined to international co-operation who appear to be pioneering this co-operative cross-border digital social revolution, the sadomasochistic, manic-depressive frog-meme vomiting pustulous seas of isolationist, nativist and ethno-supremacist groups who have, bizarrely, united across borders in pursuit of the common goal of shuttering each other away, with the added serving of feeding all feminists, arabs or other unwantables they uncover to a gnashing spikey trash compactor. The same can be said in the Third World of the ridiculously well-organised islamist social and youth movements, operating like a youth-group-missionary-mafia hybrid and violently batting away any socialists or religious critics who compete with them for public approval. I feel like many on the left do not have an answer to this, and that it lies within our own ability to outreach digitally to our comrades in other countries all over the world.
Also, finishing words but I hate the term "leftist" being thrown around nowadays (or at least I believe it to be nowadays because I sure don't have a good memory of the phrase being so commonplace until a few years back). It really irks me, because, well, do you see people getting labelled as "rightists" at all in the daily press? Oh no, no, no. Apparently one entire half of the political spectrum is now considered to be a generalised paste of some extreme madman's ideology. I recently read an article in The Guardian who labelled the completely different Greek SYRIZA and the stalinist KKE as piecemeal "Leftist" groups in the same breath, who in another article (albeit, to be fair, with a different author) then went on to paint Corbyn and then Trudeau with the exact same nonsense-label! Elevating a wing of the political spectrum to a faux-ideology, It stinks of a 21st century Hooverism, and I reject utterly it's contemporary use within the English language - not out of political correctness but of terminological accuracy.
tl;dr Hi nice to meet you we're too isolated also fuck Ron Paul and Zekir Neik.
Anarchist Communist/green anarchist here.
I've been reading this site for the last few years, I finally decided to join.
i'm working with a team and we're trying to start ' the anarchist island getaway/anarchist research center"
Hello comrades, I've been coming here for reading material and recommending this site to people for like, ten years, but never really fancied signing up or getting into forum discussions - a combination of laziness and the knowledge that I spend far too much time dicking about online as it is
I'm signing up here for two reasons - firstly to hopefully get some opinions and discussion around the stuff I'm researching at the moment, namely anarchism in German speaking Europe circa 1870 - 1930, and its relationship to stuff like sexual liberation, psychoanalysis, art etc - and secondly just because I want to start contributing to this site, both financially when I can, and in uploading texts. It's really fucking great at the end of the day, I feel like I owe a lot to the existence of this place, particularly the library - so I feel like making an effort to contribute is long overdue. Cheers!
Hello I'm Shikantaza, I'm a 20-something PhD student from the UK. My politics were always liberal until a couple of years ago when Corbyn got elected to the labour leadership. Since then my frustrations with the PLP's resistance to democratic reform has led me to explore left-wing thought more generally. I'm trying to keep an open mind at the moment, I've read some Marx and Kropotkin. At this stage I think I am more reformist than revolutionary due to the risk of a revolution being coopted by an elite seeking to keep power for themselves. Just hoping to learn more from being here.
Hi, I am rambarstuous, libertarian socialist from Sussex.
Oh I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed. I myself had a car I was teaching to type (he had an interest) until he went missing.
