Syndicalism and anarcho-syndicalism in Germany

FAUD - anarcho-syndikalisten
FAUD - anarcho-syndikalisten

The following text comprises an introduction to the development of German syndicalism from its beginnings in 1890 until the end of its organized form in the early 1960s.

Submitted by Juan Conatz on December 23, 2010

The emphasis of this introduction, however, centers on the period before and leading up to 1933, when the National Socialists under Adolf Hitler ascended to power. Syndicalism, and more specifically Anarcho-Syndicalism are movements that have been largely forgotten. This albeit superficial outline should, at its conclusion, show that this movement was not always so obscure and unknown. This piece aims not to comprehensively examine all the varied aspects of German Anarcho-syndicalism, but rather to pique the curiosity and interest of its readers.

This is a pretty important english language FAUD document. In the sense of giving folks an anarcho-syndicalist perspective on the FAUD.

And folks who can read German, the Bremen comrades have really been quite good in getting German a/s history up and out.

Helge Döhring will soon publish a study about the second largest anarchist organisation of the Weimar period, the Föderation Kommunistischer Anarchisten Deutschlands (FKAD), to my knowledge the first scholarly study on that group: https://syndikalismusforschung.wordpress.com/2017/11/12/interview-zur-foederation-kommunistischer-anarchisten-deutschlands-fkad-november-2017/ ... there is an interview with him in the latest issue of Gaidao - https://issuu.com/fda-ifa/docs/gaidao_83_oktober2017_web - with an lengthy treatment of the destructive role (towards the FAUD) it did play from the mid-20ies on

Really freaking cool. I know very little about the FKAD. Somewhere along the way, I recall there was some controversy between (I believe I'm getting this right), the editor of the KFAD newspaper and Rudolph Rocker. I'll have to refresh my memory and look it up at some point. I don't recall what the issue(s) were.

seems that Rudolf Oestreich, editor of the FKAD's paper was pretty much a grouser who for organisational and personal reason was pretty much hostile towards the FAUD and especially Rudolf Rocker and Helmut Rüdiger, he got them persecuted for libel in 1928

"Nice guy".....libel. What is it with some and the courts?

I will be curious to learn more about the differences between the KFAD and the FAUD, other than personalities. Such as the programatic, organizational, tactical differences and so forth.
